Catellani & Smith Fil de Fer

The Catellani & Smith Fil de Fer collection is one of the absolute highlights designed by the Italian light manufacturer. Designer and company founder Enzo Catellani created this series in 2002 and since then these lights provide for a great atmosphere both in classic and in modern architecture. The lights from this series all consist of a mesh out of aluminium wire shaped like a sphere and they are lit by lights shining from the inside. This idea was the basis for several pendant lamps, wall lamps, floor lamps as well as outdoor lamps. The spheres are offered in different sizes reaching from 30 cm up to 120 cm in diameter. Many lights are available in natural aluminum (silver) or in gold-plated aluminum. A novelty of this series are the oval-shaped lights such as the wall lamp Fil de Fer CW Ovale and pendant lamps named Ovale. These are offered in different sizes. The principle of an aluminum wire sphere equipped with inner halogen or LED lamps is also to be found in the Sweet Light and the Uomo della Luce collections by Catellani and Smith.
